introductory-offerThere are plenty of companies out there who are so sure of their products that they’re willing to offer special introductory prices on the premise that customers will voluntarily return to pay more because the product is worth it. Of course, half the time, companies are scheming customers into believing they have wonderful products when in fact they’re selling cheap pieces of crap for way more than should be legal, and all they’re counting on is for new customers to get tricked once. On the other hand, there are plenty of people, namely the unemployed, who are so into bargain hunting that they’ll often take advantage of introductory prices on good products or services knowing they have no intent of ever going back to pay full price.

There are places that will legitimately offer decent services to customers at slashed prices with no intent to scam customers. For example, several boutique hair salons might offer a first hair cut for $20 when regular hair cuts might cost $60. These types of places are banking on the customer being so pleased with their haircuts that they’ll give up on Supercuts for life and realize that with money comes a hairstyle that doesn’t make you want to die as it grows out. However, the unemployed are crafty bargain hunters and know that with plenty of time on their hands, they can seek out all the different salons “close enough” to them that offer the same kind of deal and never have to pay full price for a good hair cut again. The extra effort might be worth it just to avoid shaming themselves by attempting to lie about being a first time customer in an intimate setting where the hairdresser remembers everyone.

Other products and services that are worth getting a discount for the first time around before finding a new supplier/provider: Drugs, Massages, Escorts, Wine/Food/Book, etc Clubs, Cosmetic Surgery (such as Laser hair removal), and anything Made for TV when a free product is offered even if you decide not to keep the main purchase.

Sometimes the unemployed are just looking for jobs.
