For some people it takes some time to practice turning into a lazy, unemployed slob. The first week after getting laid off, some might find it incredibly difficult to sleep in because their poor bodies are too used to waking up at a hellish hour. At first, there’s that slight feeling of panic of being late for work, followed by relief there’s nothing to wake up for, followed by grief there’s no money to be made.
Eventually, it becomes perfectly normal for the unemployed to take on strange schedules. Sleeping in becomes the norm but there are always times when it might be imperative to wake up early, like if there are kids to send off to school. Once all the early morning chores are taken care of, the unemployed tend to go back to bed, switch on the TV, check some emails, and quickly drift off to sleep until their lunchtime hunger wakes them up.
Occasionally there are moments when the unemployed just end up waking up way too early for their own good. Usually this happens through no fault of their own, like when a garbage truck rolls by, or a telemarketer calls. Sometimes, a wild night out causes them to wake up from dehydration, and the unemployed stare at an empty glass for hours, too lazy to actually get up for water. Regardless, they curse themselves for being up at a normal hour and try with all their power to go back to sleep. At times they are successful and sleep until they can sleep no more. Other times, they are forced to get up and attempt to be productive like they once were. What is known is sleep is always in the future, it’s just a matter of when and where. If it happens to be in a random spot not intended for sleeping, then that spot is no longer random, and was obviously intended for sleep. When no one else is around to judge, the unemployed will sleep whenever and wherever they wish because they deserve to do what they want after waking up so early.

Unemployment Dreams-Thomas Patrick Maguire
I wake up too “early” simply due to the fact that I slept many an hour during the previous day, thus screwing my cycle. I then go back to sleep regardless. Often, I will get up, and relocate to another sleeping spot to resume my slumber.
why is this not number 1?!?!
enjoy the simple pleasures, folks ;D
Sleeping is my favourite thing to do. Although I’m not fully unemployed, I only work 14 hours a week and look forward to the days when I don’t have to work. Currently, I rise at about 2pm following a very late night, usually about 4am to bed after many hours internet surfing. Who knew I could be this much of a waster.
The title alone is too funny ’cause that has been me for
sho’.
