#40 Friday Night Naps

Pretty much anyone can agree that Friday night naps are one of the greater joys in life. There’s just something so special about passing out for a few hours after a long week of school, work, or doing absolutely nothing. For most people, Friday nights signify the one time during the week that they can finally recharge their batteries just long enough so they can function like social beings should they choose to do so. If not, then they can at least conjure up enough energy to stay up late and not feel like a senior citizen going to bed before 10  PM. 

Unemployed people like Friday night naps too, because it’s the one day of the week they can get away with being a sloth sans criticism plus they have a chance of having a social life. Although the unemployed tend to lose track of days they can somehow sense when Friday is near as everyone they know starts to lose their minds by the end of the week. That’s when the unemployed get excited because after taking on a nocturnal lifestyle alone for the better part of the week, Friday nights are the only hope for human interaction before everyone spends the weekend running errands. 

By late afternoon on Friday, the unemployed will send out mass texts to their friends to see what’s going on that evening, and will either receive no responses (some fear having to pick up the unemployed’s tab) or a bunch of “I’ll hit you up after I crash for a few hours.” Much like yawning, napping is contagious, and the unemployed make like a cat and sleep too. If they have a significant other, Friday nights are the only day they’re not judged for (still) being in bed at 6pm, as the nap is the one thing the S.O. has been looking forward to all week. On some Fridays, the unemployed get to go out and have a good time. Other times, the unemployed end up napping so hard they miss their one chance to escape the house, but hey, at least they got to feel normal like everyone else who got to enjoy a Friday night nap.
