A great thing about being unemployed is not having to worry about whether the long weekend applies because the whole week is essentially a long weekend – except for Saturday and Sunday when all the other goons come out to ruin everything. Some people circle all the three-day weekends on their calendar and eagerly count down towards the extra day of doing nothing or being otherwise inconvenienced by crowds. Others might not even realize a holiday weekend is coming up until it’s too late, and have no time to make substantial plans, so they end up resenting the extra day of no work. Then there are those who still find themselves trekking to the office because despite Presidents Day being a federal holiday, their companies don’t recognize it, and “in this economy” no one dares to complain because they’re just thankful to still have a job. Those are the ones you end up feeling sorry for because they still have to work when postal workers are off relaxing somewhere not delivering their Netflix. One of the small joys of being unemployed is being able to respond to “I wonder if I get Monday off” with “I do” and wait for the inevitable envy that follows when the employed person realizes that for the unemployed, every day is a holiday, and if collecting unemployment checks, every day is a paid holiday. At the same time, there’s the downside of not having a long weekend to look forward to, and not being able to afford getting away because Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day happened to fall into the same weekend raising prices like whoa. So if you happen to run across some jobless, loveless, three-day weekendless sap today, run, because they’re going to be spouting all sorts of bitter about this holiday.

Wow, you’re uneducated. Three of those presidents did more
for this country than you could possibly conceive. Oh yea, way to
put icing on the cake with Obama’s face up there, top 3 worst
president’s of all time! His ill disregard for public policy,
rising taxes, fiscal and monetary disciplines, oh he’s done a lot
for this country. Exactly why I celebrate President’s Day this year
out of spite for President Obama, he deserves nothing more than
prison when he leaves office.
